The results of the Community Priorities Questionnaire are in! We received 620 responses, approximately 39% from Albemarle County residents, 30% from Charlottesville residents, 4% from outside of the area, and 27% from individuals not indicating a place of residence. The following emerged as the top ten planning priorities for the project area (Charlottesville and Albemarle County):
- Limit Rural Area Development
- Improve Bicycle Facilities
- Protect Open Space
- Protect Natural Resources
- Encourage Sustainable Development
- Protect Private Property Rights
- Promote Small Business Development
- Create Connected Transportation Network
- Preserve Rural Forested Areas
- Expand Trails & Greenways
Priorities were ordered according to an aggregate ranking based upon all questionnaire responses. Priorities were also ranked according to the number of times a priority was selected and by its average ranking. Results will be analyzed for all completed questionnaires, for Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and the project area (Charlottesville & Albemarle County). Priorities will also be analyzed for each category on the questionnaire (e.g. Environment, Land Use, Transportation, etc.). The survey analysis is expected to be complete later this month. Take a sneak peak at the survey data today on the 1-community website. Thanks to all who participated by completing a questionnaire!
